95% of Agusan Sur active Covid-19 cases are local transmissions

BUTUAN CITY – Ninety-five percent of the remaining active coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in Agusan del Sur (ADS) province are local transmissions, the provincial health office (PHO) reported Friday.

“Of the 39 remaining active Covid-19 cases in the province, 37 are local transmission while two are with close contact and exposure with individuals positive to the virus,” the PHO-ADS said in a report.

It added that from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, a total of 23 new infections were recorded in the province, bringing the total cumulative number of cases to 17,372.

Nine of the new cases were recorded in the towns of San Luis; four in Talacogon; three in San Francisco; two cases each in Esperanza, Sibagat, and Prosperidad; and one in Bunawan.

The PHO-ADS specified that 14,394 of the total infections in the province are local transmissions; 2,789 are with close contact with individuals positive with the virus; 95 (locally-stranded individuals); 50 (with travel history to other areas); 43 (returning overseas Filipino workers); and one case still under investigation.

In terms of recoveries, 29 recuperated from the virus in the past four days, bringing its cumulative total to 6,879.

The death toll related to Covid-19 stands at 454 with no new mortalities recorded. (PNA)
