MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday met with officials of local rice processing firm, Chen Yi Agventures, to discuss the administration's plans to attain food security.

In a Facebook post, the Office of the Press Secretary shared a photo of Marcos' meeting with Chen Yi Agventures founders, French Patrick François Renucci and his wife, Filipino-Chinese Rachel, at Malacañan Palace in Manila.

"Ngayong araw, tinalakay ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. kasama ang mga opsiyal ng Chen Yi Agventures ang mga maaaring hakbang na magpapaigting sa pagsiguro ng sapat na pagkain sa bansa (Today, Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. discussed with Chen Yi Agventures officials the several ways to ensure food security in the country)," the OPS said in a statement.

Marcos, as concurrent Agriculture Secretary, will continue holding a meeting with experts in the sector to explore strategies that will help achieve national food security, the Office of the President (OP) said in another statement posted on its official Facebook page.

"To support the agriculture industry and its workers, the President, who also serves as the Department of Agriculture Secretary, continues to gather technical experts like the Chen Yi Agventures," the OP said.

On October 21, Marcos met with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) to discuss agriculture priorities.

PSAC advised Marcos to go digital in promoting the agriculture sector, on top of proposal to adopt practices that would help improve supply chain management.

The Renucci couple ventured into rice farming in 2013 when Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) wreaked havoc in the Visayas, particularly Leyte province.

The couple flew to Leyte to help the victims, especially the farmers.

They put up the Chen Yi Agventures Rice Processing Center (RPC), which they claimed is the most technologically advanced in Southeast Asia.

RPC is a fully automated facility that covers the entire rice production process, which is centralized and operated from touch screen panels in a single control room.

Chen Yi Agventures is committed to uplifting Filipino farmers from poverty, providing affordable, high quality premium rice, and protecting the environment.

It is also deemed as the largest producer in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, integrating seed procurement, planting, farm management, harvesting, and rice production. (PNA)
