MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is looking to reach the PHP800 to 900 billion mark in total revenue collections this month.

"My guess is that our Commissioner's prayer is that we reach the PHP800 to 900 billion mark. This is the highest collection per month, a record high that the Bureau of Customs can achieve under the leadership of our President (Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.)," Customs spokesperson Arnaldo dela Torre Jr. said in a Laging Handa briefing Wednesday.

He reported that they are near to meeting the annual target revenue which is PHP721 billion.

Based on preliminary data, from Jan. 1 to Oct. 31, the BOC collected a total of PHP714.27 billion in revenues.

The figure is 18.5 percent higher than the PHP602 billion target for the first 10 months of the year.

"We have a positivity rate of 18.5 percent. We have exceeded our collection target from January to October. And if the Bureau of Customs maintains its collective effort to sustain its collection target, we believe that we will exceed or have a surplus in revenue collection," he added.

The bureau collected PHP75 billion in October, surpassing its PHP60 billion target collection for the month. (PNA)
