125 new infections logged in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – About 125 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections were tallied in the Caraga Region from Nov. 6 to 12, the regional Department of Health office (DOH-13) said Wednesday.

“The new infections brought the total cumulative cases in the region to 62,192. As of Nov. 12, the active Covid-19 cases in Caraga stands at 240,” the DOH-13 said.

The active infections are higher compared to the 210 cases logged in the previous week, the agency noted.

Of the new infections, Agusan del Sur province had 21; Surigao del Sur with 36; Surigao del Norte, seven; Agusan del Norte, five; Dinagat Islands, one.

In the cities, 21 new cases were recorded last week in Tandag; followed by Butuan with 17; Cabadbaran, three; Bislig, two; six each in Surigao and Bayugan.  

In terms of recoveries, 90 patients recuperated from the disease, bringing the cumulative total of those healed to 59,625.

Five new Covid-19-related deaths were also recorded in the region last week, increasing the cumulative death toll to 2,327.

Meanwhile, DOH-13 said 1,752,416 residents in the region are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 11, comprising 90.9 percent of the total target population for immunization.

The agency also said 381,975 individuals in the area received their booster shots.

So far, DOH-13 said around 3.8 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the region. (PNA)
