ASG member on run for 14 years arrested in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested an alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), who went into hiding for 14 years in this southern port city, a top police official said Monday.

City police director Col. Alexander Lorenzo said 47-year-old Abdulnasser Cobot was arrested at 5:11 p.m. Saturday in Purok 4, Barangay Labuan, this city.

Cobot was nabbed after his presence in the area was confirmed through an intelligence operation.

Lorenzo said Cobot, a native of Barangay Lakiki, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, is also a member of a crime group engaged in contract killing.

He said Cobot has a standing arrest warrant for murder with no recommended bail dated April 8, 2008 as issued by the city court. (PNA)
