MANILA – Guest team Bay Area sealed a once-to-win advantage in the PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals after taking down TNT, 140-108, in their crucial elimination round game on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Dragons did the trick by setting new modern-day league records against the Tropang Giga.

Bay Area erupted for 80 points in the first half alone--the most in a single half since Sta. Lucia dropped 81 points on the same TNT franchise in the second half of its 117-96 win in the 2009 Philippine Cup--and finished with the most points in a game since San Miguel dropped 143 on Terrafirma, then known as Columbian, in the 2018 Commissioner's Cup.

Myles Powell led the Dragons, which ended their elimination round campaign at 10-2, with 37 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and one steal.

Kobey Lam added a career-high 30 points with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal, while Zhu Songwei chipped in 22 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

They will now wait on the fate of Barangay Ginebra and the Magnolia Hotshots' own bids for the Top 2 incentive if they will lock up the top seed in the net round.

Matt Mobley's explosive debut with 38 points, five rebounds, and two assists went down the drain as the Tropang Giga fell outside of the Top 8 at 4-7.

Poy Erram added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks off the bench.

The outcome effectively clinched a playoff spot for NorthPort. (PNA)
