DAVAO CITY – Five pieces of vintage bombs were accidentally discovered by an excavator operator at a warehouse in Catalunan Grande in this city, police said Thursday.

In a statement, Maj. Noel Villahermosa, the Talomo police station chief, said his men were conducting a routine patrol along Catalunan Grande at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when approached by the heavy equipment operator.

He said the operator asked the policemen to determine if what he had just dug up were vintage bombs.

The police officers went to the area and saw the unearthed 75 mm. projectiles sans their fuses with an estimated weight of 6 kg. each.

“The responding officers immediately called the Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit for the proper disposition of the bombs,” he said.

Villahermosa urged Dabawenyos who happen to discover any explosives, such as vintage bombs, to coordinate with the nearest police station. (PNA)
