Weeklong drive in C. Luzon nets 422 suspects, P2.5-M drugs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A total of 422 persons were arrested and over PHP2.52 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a weeklong anti-crime drive in Central Luzon.

In his report on Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Cesar R. Pasiwen, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3), said the anti-crime operations from Nov. 20-26 were part of their intensified efforts to curb all forms of criminality in the region.

Of the 422 arrested, Pasiwen said 173 have standing warrants of arrest for various crimes ranging from murder, homicide and rape.

Likewise, he said some 171 drug suspects were arrested, resulting in the confiscation of the PHP2.5 million worth of illegal drugs.

Pasiwen also said eight persons were apprehended for illegal possession of firearms while 19 assorted firearms were confiscated.

Meanwhile, he said 62 persons were nabbed for illegal gambling, yielding a total of PHP32,245 in cash bets.

On the other hand, eight individuals were arrested for violation of special laws.

Pasiwen assured the public that the PRO-3 will continue its campaign to eradicate all forms of criminality in the region, particularly illegal drugs and loose firearms.

He likewise encouraged the public to become advocates of its anti-drug program “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) that could help put an end to the country’s illegal drugs problem. (PNA)
