Ilocos Sur calls for youth orgs, LGUs to submit biz proposals

LAOAG CITY – The Ilocos Sur provincial government is calling on youth organizations and local government units (LGUs) in the province to submit their project proposals for a possible grant of up to PHP1 million per category.

Governor Jeremias Singson said Thursday his administration is now accepting project proposals aim to enrich the knowledge and skills of the people in terms of local economic development.

Possible business undertaking to be included in the proposal with a grant of PHP100,000 for youth organizations and PHP1 million for LGUs under the 1st to 5th class cities and towns should generate income for the proponent and employment within the community and beyond.

The proposals must be anchored from just economy, communal inclusivity, and smart regeneration leading to the 10-point agenda of the Singson administration.

These include manufacturing or trading of locally-sourced souvenirs from Ilocos Sur, establishment of fish cages, ukay-ukay business, construction of pay restrooms, installation of Piso Wi-Fi, space rental for commercial use, franchise of food carts, online selling and restaurants, among others.

"Our mission is to support the youth and LGUs to create positive change towards more inclusive, fair and sustainable communities,” Singson said in a statement.

He added that aside from the monetary grant, winners will also be guided along the way to enhance their skills and improve their product offering.

Interested proponents may submit their letter of intent signed by the president of the organization or the mayor to the governor accompanied by a duly-accomplished application form which can be downloaded at: https://tinyurl.com/OneIlocosSurSDGApplicationForm.

Deadline of submission of only one proposal per accredited youth organization is on Dec. 15, 2022 while the LGU under the 1st to 5th class categories is until Jan. 15, 2023.

All applicants will also undergo a screening process, mentoring and pitching. (PNA)
