MANILA – Members of the Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 22 persons in intensified anti-criminality operations from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said on Thursday.

Citing the report of ACG chief Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, Azurin said Precious Samuel, Ushahemba Ijirzzua, Rachelle Luzon, Katrina Alcanta and Leanna Veronica Padua were arrested for Violation of Art 315 (swindling/estafa) in relation to Sec. 6 of Republic Act (RA) 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Aries Boy Ruiz Solis was arrested for Violations of Section 4 (b) (3) Computer Related Identity Theft of RA 10175 and Art. 315 (Swindling/Estafa) as amended by RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) while Patrick John Gomez was arrested for Violations of Art 178 (Using Fictitious Name) of the Revised Penal Code and Section 4 (a) (1) (Illegal Access) of RA 10175.

Azurin said cybercops served 15 warrants of arrest that led to the arrest of wanted persons.

“We have saved many of our countrymen from the exploiters, and we have also arrested and prosecuted many. This is due to the successful enforcement of the law by our cybercops in cooperation with the community that continues to trust our police force,” he said. (PNA)
