MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on Friday lighted up its iconic central office in Manila and launched the “Christmas Stamps 2022” featuring traditional Filipino Christmas scenes inspired by Christ’s Love through Unity, Faith and Prosperity.

Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio said the Filipinos, even in the face of challenges, are always ready to share gifts and food, while lanterns light up the houses and families reunite to celebrate the joy of the Christmas season.

During the event, street children were treated with simple gifts and partook of the food to share with everyone.

“No matter how hard it is, Filipinos will always have the heart to celebrate Christmas. After all, Jesus is the reason for the season, kaya ‘tayo nagdiriwang ng pasko’ (that is why we celebrate Christmas). The simple act of sharing brings happiness and blessings,” Fulgencio said.

“Ang Post Office ay isa sa pinakalumang institusyon sa mundo na ipinamana ng ating mga ninuno. Lagi nating tatandaan na tayong lahat na mga kawani ng Post Office ay mga tagapangalaga ng serbisyong postal at dapat natin pagyamanin ito sa pamamagitan ng teknolohiya (The Post Office is one of the oldest institutions in the world handed down by our ancestors. We should always remember that all of us, Post Office staff, are the custodians of the postal service and we must enhance it through technology),” he added.

Meanwhile, the stamps depict the Filipinos’ strong faith in God and the camaraderie among families and friends.

The PHLPost came up with at least 40,000 Christmas stamps that cost PHP12 each and were designed by in-house graphic arts artists Agnes Rarangol, Ryman Dominic Albuladora, Eunice Beatrix Dabu and Israel Viyo.
