BUTUAN CITY – At least of PHP11,602,500 payments were released to the beneficiaries of the TUPAD program of the Department of Labor and Employment in partnership with the office of Agusan del Norte 2nd District Rep. Dale Corvera.

TUPAD or the Tulong Panghapbuhay sa Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.

In an interview Tuesday, Corvera said the releases were made in the different months during the second half of 2022, or from July to December this year.

“So far, based on our records, a total of 2,210 beneficiaries have already benefited from the TUPAD program in the different towns in Agusan del Norte's second district during the period,” Corvera said.

The second district covers the towns of Buenavista, Carmen, Nasipit, Magallanes, Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR), Tubay, Santiago, Jabonga, Kitcharao, and Cabadbaran City.

“Each of the beneficiaries was given a PHP350 daily salary for a 15-day work in their respective towns and barangays,” Corvera said.

On Tuesday morning, simultaneous TUPAD payouts were done in the towns of Tubay, Magallanes and RTR where 155 beneficiaries received a total of PHP813,750 in payments.

On the same day, at least 59 residents of the town of Santiago also received their TUPAD payments.

“The TUPAD program is a big help to the residents of Agusan del Norte, especially to the sectors who were greatly affected by the pandemic and the recent calamities such as typhoons that hit the province,” Corvera said.

He said his office will continue to strengthen the program through collaborations with the other agencies of the government, particularly the DOLE and the local government units. (PNA)
