Bay Area rallies to beat SMB at start of PBA Cup semis

MANILA – Bay Area fought back from a 16-point deficit to edge San Miguel, 103-102, at the start of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Kobey Lam scored the game-winning layup with 7.1 seconds left as the Dragons completed the comeback despite the challenge from June Mar Fajardo and Terrence Romeo.

Devon Scott tried to steal the win for the Beermen, but he missed a jump hook just before time expired.

Andrew Nicholson led Bay Area, which got a headstart in its best-of-five series against SMB, with 30 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal, while Zhu Songwei added 19 points, one rebound and seven assists.

CJ Perez led SMB with 24 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Romeo finished with 21 points and four rebounds. (PNA)
