JAEN, Nueva Ecija – The municipality here on Monday provided mobility equipment to the local police to help strengthen its peace and order drive.

Mayor Sylvia Austria led the turnover of the donated a pick-up truck and three motorcycles to the Jaen Municipal Police Station after the regular flag-raising ceremony at the municipal gym.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also received a motorcycle from the municipality.

Col. Richard Caballero, officer-in-charge of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office and Maj. Robert de Guzman, acting town police chief, received the vehicles that could help boost their capability in curbing criminality.

Municipal fire marshal Rolando Mendoza, on the other hand, received the equipment for the BFP.

This is for our police to use which they badly needed and for quick response, especially this Christmas season where there are many incidents that must be addressed)," Austria said in an interview.

The mayor said the procurement of the vehicles was made through a measure passed by the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Sylvester Austria.

Because we saw that those equipment are badly needed by the police as Jaen is a big town with 27 villages and we noticed that there is bit shortage of the vehicles)," she added.

Caballero, meanwhile, thanked local officials, saying the vehicles will further capacitate its forces in their anti-criminality campaign.

This is big help to the police. There is the full support of Mayor Austria and Vice Mayor Austria to improve the delivery of public service by our police personnel)," Caballero said.

The town also bought two electronic bikes for the Department of Education -- one each for the two divisions in the municipality. (PNA)
