Magnitude 5 quake jolts Bukidnon

MANILA – A magnitude 5 earthquake hit Bukidnon early Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

In a bulletin issued at 7:16 a.m., Phivolcs said the tectonic quake struck 7 km. northeast of the municipality of Kalilangan at 5:44 a.m. It was 3 km. deep.

Intensity V was felt in Amai Manabilang, Lanao del Sur, while intensity IV was felt in Kalilangan, Bukidnon; Kapatagan, Malabang, and Wao, Lanao del Sur; Barira, and Matanog, Maguindanao; and Cotabato City.

Intensity III was reported in Damulog, Dangcagan, Don Carlos, Kadingilan, Libona, Maramag, Pangantucan, Quezon, and Talakag, Bukidnon, and intensity II in Cabanglasan, Lantapan, City of Malaybalay, San Fernando, and City of Valencia, Bukidnon; and Cagayan De Oro City.

Intensity I was felt in Malitbog, Bukidnon and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

Phivolcs said both aftershocks and damage are possible from the tremor. (PNA)
