P3.3-M shabu seized in two months: Bacolod PNP

BACOLOD CITY – Drug enforcement teams of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have seized more than P3.3 million worth of shabu in the past two months, data on Wednesday showed.

During the period Nov. 1 to Dec. 20, the total reported volume confiscated was 496.215 grams while 66 drug suspects were arrested in 58 police operations. There were 86 drug cases filed in court.

“We laud the operating units and its personnel for their continuous effort through police-initiated operations to lessen criminality,” Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, police city director, said in a statement.

A major operation in November led to the arrest of Barangay Alijis village councilor Abby Araneta, 28, and her companion Freely Boy Aldas, 39, both tagged as high-value individuals.

Araneta was found in possession of 201 grams of shabu worth PHP1.37 million during a buy-bust on Nov. 8.

On Nov. 25, three members of Diopeta family in Barangay 2 were also arrested during an operation that yielded PHP136,000 worth of shabu.

The suspects were identified as Memar Diopeta, 53, and her twin sons Wowie and Wendyl, both 27 years old. (PNA)
