MANILA – The National Housing Authority (NHA), through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), on Thursday turned over a total of PHP10.95-million cash aid to the Batanes local government unit for 907 families affected by Typhoon Kiko last September.

NHA Officer-in-Charge Roderick Ibanez, on behalf of General Manager Joeben Tai, handed over the cash grant to Batanes Provincial Planning and Development coordinator Marissa Antonio.

Antonio said 75 percent of the families in Batanes, whose houses were made of light materials, were affected by Typhoon Kiko.

The cash assistance, she said, will be of great help to the families in rebuilding their homes.

Joining Ibañez in the turnover ceremony was NHA Cordillera Administrative Region/Cagayan Valley Region Manager Ferdinand Sales.

Through NHA’s EHAP, the agency releases cash aid to families whose houses were destroyed or damaged by man-made or natural calamities such as earthquakes, typhoons, flash floods and fires.

Under the leadership of Tai, NHA shall continuously partner with the provincial and local governments to assist families affected by calamities and natural disasters and will deliver its mandate to Build Better and More (BBM) housing for the Filipino people. (PNA)
