CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Agriculture (DA) has started to roll out "Kadiwa ng Pasko" stalls in Central Luzon as part of the government’s efforts to offer consumers more affordable noche buena goods and agricultural products.

The DA, through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), has put up the Kadiwa ng Pasko at the provincial capitol compound here on Dec. 19 where a wide array of locally-manufactured products and fresh farm produce are put on sale until Dec. 29.

In Bulacan, the Kadiwa ng Pasko was launched in Barangay Mulawin, City of San Jose del Monte last Wednesday.

Carmencita Nogoy, senior agriculturist and chief of DA-AMAD Region 3, said on Friday that this initiative is in partnership with other government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and National Food Authority, among others.

Nogoy said the Kadiwa ng Pasko is a flagship project of the national government that aims to help farmers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sell their produce and goods directly to consumers at lower prices.

“The Kadiwa ng Pasko aims to help local farmers to earn more through a direct farm-to-consumer food supply chain and at the same time, to provide the communities with affordable high-quality products,” she said in a statement.

One of the highlights of Kadiwa ng Pasko is the more affordable rice being sold at only PH25 per kilo.

“People are happy with the prices and they keep on asking when will Kadiwa ng Pasko come back. Farmers, cooperatives, associations and SMEs are also delighted with the positive response of the communities,” she said.

Among the participating manufacturers and retailers are Sabado Integrated Farming, Arlies Aquamarine Products, Tiltilan Delicacies, RV De Dios Food Manufacturing, Farmers’ Joy, Green and Basic Integrated Farm, Vouno Trade and Marketing Services Corporation, Betty’s Food Products, Suy Chicken Corporation, Sta. Maria Dairy and Lateco Trading. (PNA)
