MANILA – Private sector employees who will report to work on Friday and Sunday will receive 200 percent of their salaries for the day.

In an advisory, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the worker will receive “double pay” of his/her salary when he/she is present at work on the said dates, which are regular holidays.

“For work done during the regular holiday, the employer shall pay a total of 200 percent of the employee's wage for that day for the first eight hours (basic wage × 200 percent),” it said.

As for those who will work in excess of eight hours, the company shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on said day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 200 percent × 130 percent x number of hours worked).

On the other hand, if the employee went to work during a regular holiday that also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall receive an additional 30 percent of the basic wage of 200 percent (basic wage × 200 percent × 130 percent).

If work is done in excess of eight hours during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee's rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on said day (hourly rate of the basic wage × 200 percent × 130 percent x 130 percent x number of hours worked).

December 30, Rizal Day, and January 1, New Year’s Day, are declared regular holidays. (PNA)
