CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A total of 121 more displaced transport workers in Central Luzon received livelihood assistance this month that could provide them with alternative sources of income.

The assistance is under the “EnTSUPERneur” program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The program aims to provide alternative sources of income to public transport drivers and operators affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nasrudin Talipasan, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regional head, said on Thursday the new program beneficiaries from this province, Bulacan, Tarlac, Bataan and Zambales received various livelihood packages from Dec. 6-28.

He thanked the DOLE for its continuous assistance to the displaced drivers and operators.

He said the livelihood assistance is a big help to the transport workers affected by the reform in the public land transport industry.

“Tayo ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa Department of Labor and Employment sa kanilang patuloy na pagsuporta at pag-alalay sa mga draybers at operators na naapektuhan ng modernisasyon (We wholeheartedly thank the Department of Labor and Employment for its continuing support and assistance to our drivers and operators being affected by modernization),” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Talipasan asked the program beneficiaries to take care of and enrich the livelihood assistance given to them.

He said the LTFRB is still open to accepting applicants for the program. (PNA)
