DAVAO CITY – Vice President Sara Z. Duterte has called on the young people to emulate how national hero Dr. Jose Rizal lived his life in the service of the Filipinos.

Duterte exhorted the young generation during Friday's commemoration of the 126th Rizal Day here.

“I also hope that the legacy and memory of Rizal will always be treasured, remembered, and lived,” she said in an interview with reporters.

Duterte, the concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary, also urged learners to value patriotism, courage and integrity which she said were lived out by Rizal.

Meanwhile, Duterte thanked the Filipinos for the trust and confidence given to her as she served the country.

Duterte and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received high approval and trust ratings in a nationwide survey conducted by the non-government organization RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. this month.

The survey showed that 83 percent of respondents were satisfied with Marcos’ job performance, while 81 percent expressed approval of the vice president.

“We are always thankful for their trust and confidence in me as the vice president and DepEd secretary,” she said.

Duterte vowed she will continue to improve services in the Office of the Vice President and DepEd. (PNA)
