171K families affected by shear line rains, floods: NDRRMC

MANILA – The number of families affected by heavy rains and floods due to the shear line has reached 170,970.

In its update Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said this is equivalent to 681,493 persons.

These families reside in 1,132 barangays in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Families still staying in 163 evacuation centers are placed at 6,635 or equivalent to 23,536 individuals with the remainder having returned home or being aided by relatives and friends.

Houses damaged were placed at 5,152 -- 4,242 of which were "partially damaged" and 910 were "totally damaged".

The number of reported deaths remained at 52, 13 of whom have been confirmed.

Meanwhile, the number of injured is at 16, two of whom have been validated.

The reported missing persons are at 18, seven of whom have been confirmed. (PNA)
