MANILA— The Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has granted a tax refund amounting to PHP7.18 million to a manpower firm.

In its 24-page decision written by Associate Justice Lanee S. Cui-David dated Jan. 9, the tax court partially granted Service Resources Inc.’s petition for review and ordered the Bureau of Internal Revenue to refund PHP7.186 million.

The sum represents its unutilized creditable withholding taxes (CWT) for 2017.

The firm had originally asked for a tax refund of PHP16.7 million, based on a letter the company sent to BIR Revenue District Office No. 43 in 2018.

The case was elevated to the CTA after the firm alleged the BIR did not act on its claim.

Associate Justice Jean Marie A. Bacorro-Villena concurred in the ruling. (PNA)
