COTABATO CITY – Foreign dignitaries and representatives from business entities are set to gather here Thursday (Jan. 17) to grace the first Bangsamoro Business Congress.

Minister Abu Amri Taddik of the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MTIT-BARMM) said at least 200 delegates from the BARMM region are expected to join the three-day event at the Cotabato State University here.

“This event aims to strengthen and promote industry, and infrastructure and enhance economic productivity that will contribute to the region’s economic growth,” Taddik said on Monday.

He noted that local entrepreneurs are “socially prepared” for networking and innovation in business, commerce, marketing, trade and industry.

“The business gathering will open an avenue for strong national and international relations, particularly the ASEAN countries,” he said, adding that local participants will be coming from the provinces of Sultan Kudarat, Koronadal, Gen. Santos, Davao, Iligan and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Lawyer Ronald Hallid Torres, BARMM business council chairman, said aside from local delegates, representatives from various embassies and foreign chambers of commerce are also expected to attend.

“Various topics are to be discussed, and we will have business matching to do as well,” he said. (PNA)
