ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested three men, including a wanted person, and seized from them high-powered firearms and bomb-making components in Indanan, Sulu, a police official said Tuesday.

Maj. Edwin Sapa, Indanan police chief, said Sabtari Tarih Ullong, who has pending warrants of arrest for murder and attempted murder, was arrested around 10:55 a.m. Monday in Barangay Bato-Bato, Indanan.

Ullong's two other cohorts, identified as Saldy Tarih and Bakong Tarih Ullong, were also arrested.

Sapa said Saldy yielded a loaded M16 rifle and three sacks of ammonium nitrate, a bomb-making component, while the police seized from Bakong, a Garand rifle with ammunition, and two sacks of ammonium nitrate.

The three were detained at the Indanan Municipal Police Station while formal charges are readied against them for illegal possession of firearms and bomb-making components.

An investigation is being conducted to determine whether they have ties with the Abu Sayyaf Group in Sulu, Sapa said. (PNA)
