CEBU CITY – A 21-year-old e-bike driver yielded more than a kilo of shabu worth PHP7.1 million when arrested Monday night in an anti-drug sting operation here, a police official said on Tuesday.

Major Francis Renz Talosig, chief of the Cebu City police Station 6, identified the suspect as Vincen Rodriguez, a resident of Belgium Street in the coastal village of Suba here, who drove an e-bike as a means of living before he was listed as a regional level drug personality.

Talosig said Rodriguez was arrested after he transacted with an operative of the drug enforcement team of Station 6, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, during the buy-bust operation in Sitio Mahayahay II of the neighboring barangay of Pasil.

The arresting officer, Staff Sergeant Ian Jude Montellano, recovered from Rodriguez a bundle of marked money purported to be worth PHP15,000.

Also seized from the suspect were more than 20 pieces of transparent plastic packs that has white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

“The total seized white crystalline substance believed to be 'shabu' with an estimated weight of 1,055 grams and a standard drug price of PHP7,174,000 were submitted to Regional Crime Laboratory Office 7 for examination,” Talosig said in his report submitted to Cebu City police chief, Col. Ireneo Dalogdog.

Rodriguez is temporarily detained at Station 6’s custodial facility while documents are being prepared for the filing of appropriate charges in court. (PNA)
