LEGAZPI CITY – At least 319,725 households in Bicol Region have benefited from the 1,358 completed sub-projects worth PHP742.89 million of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) for 2022, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) said on Wednesday.

Ranelle Anne Sertan, DSWD-5 social marketing officer, said the sub-projects were identified through KALAHI-CIDSS’ planning process with the participatory situational analysis and community consultations that focus on responding to the needs of the community.

"Among the different sub-projects we completed in the six provinces in the region were barangay halls, a boat, bridges, footpaths, hand washing stations, capability building training, cash-for-works, community center, health stations, provision of goods and communication devices, daycare center, disaster and pandemic responses and flood and river control," she said in a message sent to reporters.

Also on the list of projects were isolation and quarantine facilities, livelihood, buildings, livelihood training, pre- and post-harvest facilities, riprap wall and slope protections, roads, small-scale irrigation facilities, among others.

In a statement, DSWD-5 Regional Director Norman Laurio said the KALAHI-CIDSS is primarily centered on increasing the participation of community members in local planning, project implementation, monitoring and sustainability.

“To ensure the functionality of the sub-projects, a sustainability evaluation is conducted six months after the sub-project completion and every year thereafter. The evaluation test is administered by the Multi-Stakeholders Inspectorate Team composed of staff from selected members of municipal and barangay local governments and community volunteers," he said.
