CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday allotted PHP10.9 million for the new batch of cash-for-work beneficiaries in Camiguin province.

Jovelyn Perez, DOLE-Camiguin focal person, said the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program beneficiaries are set to work from Feb. 1 to 18.

"The rate is PHP390 daily since the proposal was approved last December (2022) before the new minimum wage took effect," Perez said.

The DOLE-Camiguin said it will use PHP726,000 of the total fund allotment to pay 127 TUPAD recipients in Guinsilban town. About PHP2.1 million will be for the payment of 355 recipients in Sagay.

Meanwhile, the towns of Mahinog and Mambajao will also get PHP2.3 million and PHP5.7 million for its 393 and 953 beneficiaries, respectively.

After the working period, DOLE-Camiguin said each recipient will be paid PHP6,000.

Belen Abecia, 73, said she accepted the TUPAD program because of the need for additional income of their family.

"This is an added benefit in our household, especially since I have a husband and a son with ailments who need to maintain their medicines," she said. (PNA)
