CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allocated PHP26.7 million for its Cash for Work (CFW) program in Lanao del Norte province this year.

In a statement Tuesday, DSWD focal person Racma Arumpac-Dimatibang said the amount will be given to the 6,610 beneficiaries identified and approved by the provincial government, who will receive PHP4,050 each for 10 days' work.

"As per this year, following the newly released guidelines of the (DSWD) central office, the daily wage of the beneficiaries was increased from 378 per day to 405 per day," she said.

The CFW program provides temporary employment to indigent individuals who will be tasked to do a series of community work such as cleaning and other activities related to disaster mitigation, risk reduction, and rehabilitation.

Dimatibang said the agency and Governor Imelda Dimaporo have also discussed the "Implementation Guidance for the Risk Resiliency Program" of the agency for this year.

Meanwhile, DSWD Region 10 has continued in providing food and non-food Items in the DSWD regional warehouse of Lanao del Norte.

DSWD-10 Assistant Director for Operations Ronald Ryan Cui said the additional food and non-food Items arrived fast and in good condition, courtesy of the Secretary of the National Defense, Carlito Galvez Jr., who requested the Armed Forces of the Philippines to help the DSWD in the transportation of the relief items.

As of Tuesday, the total unloaded food and non-food Items consisted of 961 family food packs, 1,662 sleeping kits, and 2,069 kitchen kits. (PNA)
