MANILA – The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) on Monday reported the recent interception of illegal drugs worth PHP2.48 million in Pasay City.

In a statement, the bureau said three parcels containing 1.020 kg of ecstasy and 106.46 grams of shabu were seized at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), Pair Cargo, and DHL Warehouse on Feb. 1.

It added that the contraband was concealed in the parcels containing six plastic pouches of candies and one vape cartridge containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

It added that the parcels originated from the United States, France and Pakistan. They were shipped to consignees in Negros Occidental, Makati City and Camarines Sur.

Further investigation is underway to arrest those behind the drug smuggling attempt for possible violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Authorized personnel turned over the contraband to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposition. (PNA)
