BUTUAN CITY – Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels with arrest warrants for murder and multiple murder charges were arrested in separate police operations in the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte on Tuesday.

In a report Wednesday, Col. Filemon Pacios, Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO) director, said the police arrested a former commanding officer of the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 16A of NPA Guerrilla Front (GF) 16 in Barangay Baleguian, Jabonga town.

Identified only as "Gab," the 28-year-old suspect has two arrest warrants for multiple attempted murder cases issued by a regional court in Cabadbaran City last year.

Also on Tuesday, Pacios said a member of Platoon Linon, NPA GF4B, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee, was arrested in Barangay Bokbokon, Las Nieves town.

Alias Kayler, 40, has a standing arrest warrant for multiple murder charges issued by a regional court in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon province, in August 2019.

“The personnel of ADNPPO will never lose the grip to conduct law enforcement operations against wanted persons,” Pacios said.

Meanwhile, the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office also reported Wednesday the arrest of George Cerna Tamayo in an operation conducted a day earlier in Purok 3, Barangay San Francisco, Mainit town.

Tamayo, 67, has a pending arrest warrant for murder issued by RTC Branch 32 in Surigao City. He is an alleged member of the SYP 16B, NPA GF16. (PNA)
