COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has disbursed PHP31.5 million for the construction of nine modern barangay hall buildings here, officials said Thursday.

“Each of the nine villages has an allocation of PHP3.5 million from the BARMM’s Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG),” Naguib Sinarimbo, the region’s interior minister, said.

Recipients of the project are Barangays Rosary Heights Mother, Rosary Heights I, Bagua II, Kalanganan Mother, Kalanganan I, Kalanganan II, Poblacion II, Poblacion III and Poblacion VII.

Sinarimbo said the project is a component of the Office of the Chief Minister's Support to Local Moral Governance initiative that provides funding for infrastructure projects, such as barangay halls.

The MILG's project management development division is implementing the project.

Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali Matabalao lauded the BARMM government for the barangay infrastructure projects.

"Barangays are at the forefront of local government, and this is extremely important; they interact with our constituents and participate in the delivery of fundamental services,” he said.

This city is the provisional regional seat of the BARMM. (PNA)
