8 arrested, P1.2-M shabu seized in W. Mindanao

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Eight suspects, including a member of a drug syndicate, were arrested and some PHP1.2 million worth of illegal drugs and a firearm were seized in separate anti-drug operations during the week within the jurisdiction of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao (APC-WM).

The biggest drug haul involved the confiscation of some PHP850,000 worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of two of the eight suspects last Monday in Lanao del Sur province.

Col. Richard Verceles, operations chief of APC-WM, said Fahad Pangcatan, 21, and Mohammad Aragasi, 20, were arrested by policemen in a checkpoint operation around 9:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Bato-Bato, Maguing town, Lanao del Sur.

Also arrested was a member of the Baban Taman drug syndicate identified as Randy Gomeri, 31, a resident of Barangay Sangali, this city, arrested on Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Neil Alinsañgan, Police Regional Office-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, said some 21 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP142,800 and marked money were seized from the suspect.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director said Joy Saison, 41, a listed drug suspect was arrested around 11:04 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Talon-Talon here. Saison yielded some 25 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP170,000.

The other arrested suspects were identified as Gil Toñacao, 37; Jayson Barredo, 36; Japeth Tubil, 33; and Jufel Samolde Bularon, 36. (PNA)
