MANILA – Anti-narcotics operatives of the Southern Police District (SPD) have seized PHP6.8 million worth of shabu from two Chinese nationals and their female cohort in a sting operation in Taguig City on Monday night.

In a report on Tuesday, SPD director, Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, said Chinese nationals Kun Yang, 26, and Yang Tao, 29, both listed as high-value individuals and Faith Jovenes Suñiga, 18, were arrested by the SPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in a buy-bust operation around 10:30 p.m. Monday inside a parking lot in Barangay Fort Bonifacio.

Kraft said the suspects were members of the Yang Drug Group operating in the cities of Muntinlupa, Makati, Pasig, Pasay, and Taguig.

DEU members seized around one kilogram of shabu placed in a yellow and green plastic tea bag with Chinese characters, a self-sealing transparent plastic sachet containing dried leaves and fruiting tops suspected to be kush (high-grade marijuana) weighing around 9.5 grams, a small transparent plastic sachet containing 62 pieces of small red round tablets and 38 pieces of small pink round tablets, a silver gray Mitsubishi Montero with plate no. NAP 4683, a silver-gray Mitsubishi Mirage bearing conduction sticker Y1 U357, and boodle money worth PHP1.2 million.

Kraft said the confiscated drug evidence will be forwarded to the SPD Forensic Unit for qualitative and quantitative examination while the arrested suspects were temporarily detained at the RDEU Custodial Facility for booking and documentation.

Charges are being readied against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
