6 wanted persons in Bicol nabbed in police ops

LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 (Bicol) has rounded up six wanted persons in the region who were all charged with rape, a non-bailable offense.

In an interview on Thursday, Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said police authorities captured a most wanted person and five other fugitives in separate operations in Bicol on Wednesday.

In Camarines Norte, the operatives nabbed Gerson Mijare alias "Gerson Mijares", who is No. 9 on the list of most wanted persons in the region. He is facing two counts of rape in violation of Republic Act (RA) 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

In Camarines Sur, three wanted persons charged with statutory rape were arrested by joint elements of the Pasacao municipal police, 3rd Maneuver Platoon, and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Calubaquib said.

"The suspects were identified as Bryan Cortez, 19, Jude Ryan Dineros, 26, and Marlon delos Santos, 25, all facing charges for four counts of statutory rape docketed under Criminal Case No. 2023-0121 to 2023-0124, dated Feb. 28, 2023," she said.

Danilo Bosito, 60 years old, was likewise nabbed in Albay.

In Sorsogon, another suspect who is facing charges of violation of RA 7610 was arrested by joint operatives of the Bulan police and the 2nd Sorsogon Provincial Mobile Force Company. He was identified as Reymond Tatlong Hari de Guzman, 26 years old.

"All apprehended individuals were placed under the custody of the apprehending stations. They were informed of their constitutional rights and underwent a medical examination prior to detention," Calubaquib said.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque, PRO-5 director, lauded the efforts and diligence shown by the operating teams that led to the arrests.

"The unit shall remain steady to reinvigorate its security plans and programs with the help of the community as indispensable members of the Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan," he said. (PNA)
