MANILA – The Manila City government on Monday deployed 300 vehicles to assist commuters during the weeklong transport strike staged by various groups across the country.
In a statement, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said they have deployed different types of vehicles for major and secondary roads in the city -- 280 e-tricycles for secondary roads and 32 buses, pick-ups and trucks for major thoroughfares.
The 'Oplan Libreng Sakay' of the city government will operate from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The public is advised that these free public transport will be plying the following routes:
-- Vito Cruz Taft Ave - Quezon Blvd.
-- Espana Blvd. - Welcome Rotonda
-- Abad Santos Ave. - R. Papa Rizal Ave.
-- UN Taft Ave. - R. Papa Rizal Ave.
-- Recto Ave. - SM Sta. Mesa
-- UN Taft Ave. - P. Ocampo St.
-- Monumento Rizal Ave. - Divisoria
-- Buendia Taft Ave. - Divisoria
-- Buendia Taft Ave. - Monumento Rizal Ave.
-- Buendia Taft Ave. - Welcome Rotonda
The public service assistance is in coordination with the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and Manila Police District. (PNA)
