ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested a man listed as the most wanted person in Zamboanga del Norte for a string of rape cases in a manhunt operation, a top official said Monday.
Col. Glenn Dulawan, Zamboanga del Norte police director, said the suspect, Rexie del Rosario, was arrested around 7:40 a.m. Sunday in Sitio Agus, Barangay Lantay, Panganturan, Bukidnon.
Del Rosario, 40, of Barangay San Jose, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte, has standing arrest warrants for rape by sexual assault with bail set at PHP200,000.
He is also wanted for 13 other rape counts with no recommended bail, the warrant issued by the Dipolog City court in Zamboanga del Norte in August last year.
Meanwhile, a teenager was also arrested Sunday afternoon in Zone 3, Barangay Guisao here for a violation of Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.
Col. Alexander Lorenzo, city police director, said the 17-year-old boy allegedly hacked the dog of his neighbor, prompting the latter to lodge a formal complaint before the police.
Lorenzo said the teenager was turned over to the Center for Children in Conflict with the Law here. (PNA)
