COTABATO CITY – A security manager of a famous beach resort in Maguindanao del Norte and members of his family have survived an ambush in Maguindanao Norte’s Datu Odin Sinsuat town, a police official said Tuesday.

Maj. Regie Albellera, Datu Odin Sinsuat municipal police chief, however, said Regan Blanan, 40, chief security officer of the Amaya Beach Resort in Barangay Kusiong, his wife Baby Jane Blanan, 35, and Jonimar Minted, 40, were wounded in the attack.

A relative, Lilit Udas, 52, and Blanan’s two-year-old son, were unscathed in the 4:30 p.m. Monday ambush along Barangay Tapian, Datu Odin Sinsuat town.

“They were heading home when ambushed. The motive and identities of the attackers remained unknown up to now,” Albellera said.

He said the victims were aboard a white minivan on their way home to Barangay Kusiong when two men riding on a motorbike opened fire using an M16 rifle and .45-caliber pistol.

The victims are recuperating in an undisclosed hospital in this city. (PNA)
