ILOILO CITY – The assurance of stable and reliable power supply in Iloilo City’s business park and its surrounding areas in the Mandurriao district makes this part of the metro more enticing to investors.

MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) president and chief executive officer Roel Castro, in an interview on Thursday, said they have already energized their 30/36 MegaVolt Amperes (MVA) substation's power transformer at the New Megaworld substation last March 5 from what used to be a 10 MVA mobile substation.

The substation is ready to support the development of Iloilo Business Park and nearby districts, such as Ayala Atria Estate, SM Complex, and the Mandurriao residential district.

"The energization of the substation marks a significant milestone for MORE Power, in fulfilling its mandate of providing reliable and cost-efficient electric power distribution service to Iloilo City. We are fully committed to the upgrading of the power infrastructures here to meet the needs of our customers and support the economic growth of the city," Castro said.

The new substation has two incoming lines from Molo and Mandurriao districts that will ensure a backup in case one line fails.

“With the company's ongoing upgrading and rehabilitation of electric power infrastructures, the city can look forward to a brighter future and a more robust economy,” Castro added.

The Megaworld substation is the first permanent substation project of MORE Power since it took over the power distribution in Iloilo City in Feb. 2020.

Mandurriao district hosts Iloilo City's new economic triangle or the new central business district where major townships are situated.

These include the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park of the Megaworld Corporation, Atria Park by Ayala Land, SM City and the Iloilo City Center by the Gaisano Group.

Most of the major business process outsourcing firms operating in the city can also be found in the district. (PNA)
