CUYAPO, Nueva Ecija – Senator Imee Marcos led on Monday the distribution of financial assistance to some 1,000 female residents here in line with the celebration of Women’s Month.

“Happy Women’s Month. Sa mga kababaihang narito, alam natin napakahirap ang nakalipas na tatlong taon dahil sa Covid. At ngayon sabi nga nila ay malaya na tayo, kaso bagsak naman ang agrikultura at ang tataas ng bilihin. Lahat ng mga nanay, ginang ng tahanan, lola at mga anak na namamahala ng pagkain ay talagang hirap. Eto nga tulong tulong po tayo at ibibigay natin ang tulong ng diretso sa tao (To the women here, we know the past three years have been very difficult because of Covid. And now, as they say, we are free but agriculture is down and the prices of the commodities are rising. All the mothers, grandmothers and children who are in charge of food are really having difficulty. Thus, we are here to help and we will give the assistance directly to the people),” the senator said during the event.

Marcos, dubbed "Super Ate" being an elder sister to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., distributed PHP3,000 each to beneficiaries mostly women with disability, solo parents, senior citizens and indigents.

The cash aid was under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The AICS serves as a stop-gap mechanism or social safety net to support the recovery of individuals and families from an unexpected crisis.

Under the program, the DSWD provides medical, burial, educational, transportation, food and other cash assistance to persons or families in crisis situations.

While in this town, Marcos also conducted a dialogue with farmers' groups, where she consulted them with regard to enhancing the government programs on agriculture.

The senator has previously delivered support to various farmers' groups in the province and provided PHP10 million for the construction of a multipurpose building/evacuation center in this municipality.

Meanwhile, Marcos also distributed PHP3,000 each to another 1,000 DSWD-AICS female beneficiaries in Guimba town on Monday. (PNA)
