BUTUAN CITY – Anti-narcotics police operations since January to March 13 this year have resulted in the arrest of 51 drug suspects and confiscation of over PHP2.2 worth of shabu, an official said Wednesday.

Col. Marco Archinue, city police director, said at least 43 police operations were conducted during the period with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Caraga Region that also targeted 21 high-value individuals (HVIs) involved in the illegal drug trade.

At least 3 buy-busts and search warrant operations resulted in the seizure of 330.6 grams of shabu valued at over PHP2.2 million.

One of the recent buy-busts took place on March 10, during which an HVI identified as Ronil Burdeos was arrested in Barangay Lumbocan here.

Seized from the possession of Burdeos were 10 grams of shabu worth PHP68,000.

On the same day, police also collared another drug suspect identified as Vincent Feguro of Barangay Ampayon. He allegedly yielded five grams of shabu with a street value of PHP34,000.

The biggest haul took place on March 9, during which suspect June Peter Racca yielded 60 grams of shabu worth PHP408,000 in a buy-bust conducted in Barangay Libertad.

“The Butuan Police force will continue to keep up the momentum to combat the expansion of drugs along with our countermeasures as embarked in the BIDA program,” Archinue said.

BIDA stands for Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan, a holistic anti-illegal drugs campaign of the Philippine National Police in partnership with the other law enforcement agencies of the government. (PNA)
