MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has ordered the fast-tracking of the processing and evaluation of construction safety and health programs of projects of the government.

"All are hereby directed to facilitate the evaluation, processing, and concurrence of Construction Safety and Health Program of the projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways and other government agencies. (This is) pursuant to the policy intent of decentralizing the evaluation and approval of the Construction Safety and Health Program to provide quality service to our clientele," said Labor Advisory No. 6 - 2023 signed by Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma on March 16 and made public Monday.

He said applicants need not pay to get such approval.

"The submission, evaluation, processing, and concurrence of the Construction Safety and Health Program are free, and no cost shall be charged to the applicant principal and contractor or subcontractor," he added.

On the other hand, Laguesma noted that an approved Construction Safety and Health Program is also required for private construction projects.

"Construction Safety and Health Program shall be submitted prior to the commencement of any construction-related activities to the DOLE field and provincial offices having jurisdiction over the location of the project," Laguesma said.

Earlier, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) approved the infrastructure flagship projects of the Marcos administration.

These are the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital Diliman Project; Ninoy Aquino International Airport Rehabilitation Project; Panay Railway Project; Mindanao Railway Project III; North Long Haul Railway; San Mateo Railway; Ilocos Sur Transbasin Project; and the Metro Cebu Expressway.
