SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has urged the provincial government of Antique and its local government units (LGUs) to provide aftercare services to household graduates of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to prevent them from sliding back into poverty.

Program Development Officer 2 Donna Magbanua said aftercare services such as livelihood projects, scholarships and trainings are priorities under the Specific Implementation Agreement (SIA).

Magbanua was in Antique on Wednesday where she briefed government agencies and LGUs about SIA which is part of the Provincial Convergence Committee -- an advisory body that works to address poverty and chaired by Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao.

"The SIA, which is very important in the 4Ps implementation, is being renewed every three years," she said, adding that the DSWD and the provincial government will renew their SIA this year.

DSWD data showed that more than 7,000 households in Antique have already exited from the program from 2021 up to the present.

Antique Provincial Link Jeffrey Gabucay said that the municipality of Anini-y has released PHP6,250 each to their 232 4Ps graduates as livelihood assistance after their graduation in March 2021.

They are still monitoring other assistance to graduates in other towns.

Apart from aftercare services, the SIA also would like to ensure the implementation of the Kilos Unlad, which is a process and strategy to guide 4Ps household beneficiaries in achieving improved well-being towards self-sufficiency through a multi-faceted intervention by government agencies that serve as co-implementers.

The program’s provincial and municipal links and personnel augmentation shall also be provided with office space, based on the SIA. (PNA)
