CIDG nabs 16 fugitives

MANILA – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) personnel arrested 16 wanted persons during a two-day simultaneous anti-criminality campaign.

In a statement on Thursday, CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat said under the group's flagship project, the campaign against wanted persons or Oplan Pagtugis, 16 pursuit operations were conducted resulting in the arrest of 16 wanted persons (WPs) -- five listed under regional; two under provincial; one tagged as municipal level, and eight other wanted persons.

The group also conducted 31 operations, which netted 39 suspects during its simultaneous anti-criminality campaigns on March 18 and 19.

Caramat said in the campaign against loose firearms under its Oplan Paglalansag Omega, the CIDG arrested one suspect during a police operation and confiscated four firearms.

Oplan Bolilyo or the campaign against illegal gambling has led to the arrest of 11 individuals and the seizure of bet money amounting to PHP6,810 during the conduct of four operations.

Caramat said three operations were likewise conducted against the unlawful destruction of natural resources or Oplan Kalikasan that resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals. while 23 minors were rescued under the campaign against law enforcement activities.

“(The) CIDG is relentless in the implementation of its flagship programs to put an end on all illegal activities and hold criminals accountable. Makakaasa kayo na kami ay patuloy na kikilos at tutugon sa anumang paraan upang mapanatili ang ligtas at payapang komunidad (You can rest assured that we will continue to act and respond in any way we can to maintain a safe and peaceful community),” he said.
