MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) has announced that both ends of the Andrews Avenue at Newport 10th Street and the Pasay-Baclaran boundary will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 24 to Nov. 25, 2023 as it starts a drainage improvement project.

In a social media post Thursday, the DPWH cited a report of South Manila District engineer (SMDE) Mikunug Macud to regional director Loreta Malaluan noting the project will help improve the drainage system along Andrews Avenue, Aurora Boulevard and Pasay-Baclaran boundary.

The project involved the simultaneous construction of a box culvert in 50-meter sections of both ends.

To lessen the impact of the construction works to traffic in the area, the DPWH-SMDE will be operating in the allotted window time in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The DPWH has issued alternate routes for motorists as moderate to heavy traffic is expected during the construction period.

Light vehicles coming from Edsa and heading to Andrews Avenue are advised to take Don Carlos Revilla Street, then to Sampaguita Street, followed by BAC III Dr. Street.

On the other hand, light vehicles coming from Andrews Avenue heading to Edsa may take St. Peter Street, then head towards Clemente Jose Street.

Other vehicles coming from other directions are urged to access other alternate routes. (PNA)
