SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Provincial Board of Antique is seeking a PHP10 million fund for the concreting of a road leading to Mt. Liwliw in Barangay Tagaytay, municipality of Anini-y, the site of the proposed satellite radar of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
Board Member Jessielito Sumande Sr. sponsored a resolution addressed to Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao during their regular session on Monday asking for an appropriation to be used for the road concreting project starting from Barangay Fatima to Mt. Liwliw in Barangay Tagaytay.
“The PHP10 million budget will be included in the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) of the provincial government next year,” Sumande said in an interview on Tuesday.
Sumande added that the concrete road network will serve as the provincial government’s support to the PAF.
“Mt. Liwliw is a strategic area where the United States Air Force radar was established under the 1947 Military Bases Agreement between the United States of America and the Republic of the Philippines,” the board member said.
Its operation was terminated in 1991 after the Senate decided to end the military bases agreement.
The PAF Flight Plan 2040 was presented to the provincial board on March 20 and mentioned the revival of the US Air Force facility for defense mechanism purposes and mobilization of air assets in times of emergency and calamity.
The restoration will also entail a donation of 15 to 30 hectares of public land at Mt. Liwliw. (PNA)
