JAKARTA – Registration for media that seek to cover the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit will open on April 1, 2023, said Communication and Informatics Ministry’s Public Information and Communication Director General, Usman Kansong.

Information concerning the coverage of the first ASEAN summit under the Indonesian chair this year will be delivered in detail through media advisory issued on April 1, he noted through a short message to ANTARA on Monday.

The ASEAN Summit will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on May 9-11, 2023. The ministry estimated that 300-500 media from 10 ASEAN member countries will cover the summit.

Reporters who will cover the ASEAN Summit are obligated to register themselves online.

“However, the number is stipulated within the media advisory that is still being formulated,” he noted in relation to the number of media that can cover the ASEAN Summit.

During last week’s press conference, Kansong said that the government will prepare the formation of a special agency to help the media receive a complete press statement concerning the 2023 ASEAN activities held in Indonesia.

To provide public communication access, Kansong said the ministry will provide a special website that contains Indonesian Chairmanship activities in 2023 ASEAN that can be accessed in ASEAN2023.id.

The website managed by the Informatics and Communication Directorate General will provide content in the form of news articles, photos, infographics to videos related to 2023 ASEAN.

Indonesia’s chairmanship in the 2023 ASEAN focuses on strengthening ASEAN as a fast-growing, inclusive, and sustainable economic region as stated in the ASEAN2023.id.

ASEAN members are encouraged to develop a strong region that comprises good health architecture, food and energy security, as well as financial stability. (Antara)
