MANILA – Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano has lauded two female police officers in the city for declining a PHP100,000 bribe in exchange for the release of a Chinese national nabbed for illegal drugs.

In a statement on Thursday, Cayetano said Patrolwomen Monaliza Bosi and Charmaine Galapon, both assigned to the Taguig Police's Sub-Station 1 at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, are proof the city police remain true to their mandate to serve and protect without fear or favor.

"These patrolwomen are exemplary models for standing their ground in a situation where their integrity was put to a test," Cayetano said.

Bosi and Galapon arrested Bin Li, a 40, sales manager, who offered money to the two policewomen for the release of suspect Deng Jiliang, 33, arrested on March 26.

Deng, an IT staff in a company in BGC, was nabbed after a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession and in a trash can inside his hotel room.

Cayetano said the two patrolwomen are exemplary models, not just for their colleagues, but for people in general.

She added that these police officers emphasized that Filipino women are indeed reliable and trustworthy to do the right thing even under pressure.

In January this year, Cayetano also recognized two Taguig policemen who rejected a PHP182,000 buy-off attempt from a Chinese national for the release of his colleagues arrested in an entrapment operation for alleged robbery extortion.
