SOFIA – In recent years, the performances of contemporary Bulgarian artists who have chosen to develop their art around the world have become more and more frequent in Bulgaria, said Deputy Foreign Minister Kostadin Kodzhabashev on Friday at the opening of the Indigo exhibition at the Mission Gallery of the State Cultural Institute.

The project is being implemented by artist Valentin Bakardzhiev, who lives in Amsterdam and uses the blue indigo colour to visualize the idea of the interconnection between the Blue Planet and humans - its inhabitants.

There is also an installation in the exhibition that is linking two of the artist's main projects -- The Big Blue and The Butterfly Effect – that are made from natural materials and special paper.

Kodzhabashev expressed his impressions of Bakardzhiev's works, which in his words, send a message via the blue colour, "not only about water, the sky, the planet, but also about human responsibilities that are important today -- we all want to have clean air, water, an ecological future."

He congratulated the artist and wished him many new successes, as well as to continue to find such interesting themes with strong socio-economic and environmental messages.

The exhibition opened on April 20 and can be viewed until May 4, 2023. (BTA)
