DAVAO CITY – Davao de Oro province has been placed under Alert Level 2 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) until April 30 after logging high cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a statement Tuesday, the Department of Health in Davao Region (DOH-11) said it recorded a total of 299 new cases of Covid-19 from April 10-16 in its area, representing a 34 percent increase compared to the 223 cases logged in the previous week.
The increased positivity rate prompted the IATF-EID to recommend that Davao de Oro province – along with 25 other provinces, highly urbanized cities (HUC), and independent component cities (ICC) – be placed on alert level 2 until April 30 through IATF Resolution No. 6-C.
The IATF, however, only issued Alert Level 1 status in some municipalities in Davao de Oro that included Mawab, Nabunturan, Montevista, and New Bataan.
For the past two weeks, the healthcare utilization rates in the region also increased from 31 percent to 34.6 percent for non-intensive care unit ICU) beds and from 40.4 percent to 42.5 percent for ICU beds.
Alert Level 2 implies restrictions to establishments or activities such that they shall be allowed to operate at a maximum of 50 percent indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals, and 70 percent outdoor venue capacity.
"The public is hereby reminded to continue practicing minimum public health standards as Covid-19 vaccination efforts are continuing throughout the region,” the DOH-11 said.
Moreover, DOH-11 added that At least 3,353,416 people, or 88.3 percent of the target population in the Davao Region, have been fully vaccinated as of April 10. (PNA)
